History

Guerra was founded by Ângelo Francisco Guerra, in 1970, in the city of Caxias do Sul, state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. With his entrepreneurial spirit and wide knowledge in the manufacturing of road implements, this descendent of Italian immigrants built a solid brand that would project itself as one of the greatest manufacturers of semi-trailers in Latin America.

1948

Ângelo Francisco Guerra founds – in the city of Caxias do Sul, RS – one of the first manufacturers of road implements in Brazil, Guerra & Irmãos. In the beginning, production was dedicated to making animal-drawn wagons (which was the regional means of transport at that time).

1950

Ângelo Guerra makes the first trailer to transport wood, in order to meet the demand in the region in the extraction and transport of logs (araucaria pines). The trailer was a one-axle vehicle made in wood and iron, and adapted to a 1946 Ford truck.

1952

The country starts to import heavier duty trucks and the market points towards the demand for cargo capacity. Ângelo Guerra starts assembling the 3rd axle system (Truck), which was assembled on a simple wheeling mechanism (Ford 46), known at that time as the "third dead axle".

1960

The first heavy duty truck assemblers began to arrive at the country generating development in the transport sector. Taking advantage of the market growth for heavy trucks, the company creates its first project for a semi-trailer.

1962

The company changes its name, and becomes Guerra & Marchett. In 1964, the company changes its name again to Mecânica Rodoviária SA.

1969

Ângelo Francisco Guerra sold the stock control for Mecânica Rodoviária S/A.

1970

With his entrepreneurial spirit and wide experience in the production and commercialization of road implements, Ângelo Francisco Guerra founds Guerra SA, on August 20, 1970. The company was installed in Caxias do Sul in the suburban area called São Ciro, em Caxias do Sul, and started operating in April 1971, with 20 employees in a built area of 7,000 m2.

1972

Always working with the purpose of more customer satisfaction and of conquering new markets, the company opens its assembling unit in the capital city of São Paulo.

1979

Guerra opens another branch company, in Porto Alegre, RS, which is responsible for assembling the third axler, for customer assistance and operates as a dealer of Guerra products in its region.

1980

The unit in São Paulo is transferred to its own facilities, in the city of Guarulhos, state of São Paulo. The company was strategically placed at KM 213 on Via Dutra, at a total area of 17,300 m² and a built area of 2,300 m². In that same year, in Caxias do Sul, Guerra Unit 2 is installed, with a total area of 38,000 m2 and a built area of 2,500 m², located by BR 116, at KM 146. At first, the purpose of this unit was to offer customer service for Guerra products.

1982

Focusing on its customers’ needs and willing to increase its market share, the company changes its distribution policy, starting to form a network of distributors all over the national territory.

1985

Guerra launches the first B-train semi-trailer model in the national market.

Collective financing plans (known in Brazil as consórcio) are signed in a partnership with Autoplan (with assembly meetings broadcast by Embratel).

1987

The unit in Porto Alegre is sold. Customer service in that region starts to be carried out by the new distributor.

1989

CHARGER – a brand is born in order to meet exclusively the needs of Scania dealers, with Guerra’s quality and industrial technology.

1990

Consórcio Battistella SC starts to manage the financing program for products carrying brand names GUERRA and CHARGER.

1993

With the fast growth of Latin American countries, the companay creates a network of distributors with countries belonging to Mercosur.

1996

Guerra is the first Brazilian company to test brake discs on its line of products.

1997

Scania Administradora de Consórcio purchases part of the Administradora de Consórcio Battistella SC (Road Implements and Trucks), continuing the administration of the financing program offered by Guerra e Charger.

1998

Because of its need for physical expansion, the company purchases an area of 89,000 m2 near Plant II, in Caxias do Sul. In that same year, they finish the tests with disc brakes and make them available for sale at the market.

1999

In a continuum of the changes and always pursuing high commitment with its customers, the company is certified with ISO 9001 by DNV on September 24.

2000

The company launches a new concept in the market of pneumatic suspension with an intelligent movable axle, obtaining more stability, better drivability, increasing cargo capacity with lower consumption of the tires.

2000

On August 20,2000, Guerra S/A Implementos Rodoviários celebrated its 30th anniversary of Peace on the Road (Paz na Estrada).

2001

Guerra innovates with the Grain B-Train and its movable floor.

2002

In June the Unit for Delivery Vans and Curtain-canvas Semi-trailer is inaugurated in Farroupilha-RS.

2003

Nova Geração (the New Generation) is launched. The products went through several modifications which favored our customers even more..

2004

B-train Tecno 5 with polypropylene sides is launched.

2005

Guerra celebrates its 35th with a new manufacturing plant in Caxias do Sul (RS) and two industrial units, one in São Paulo and one in Argentina.

The new plant in Caxias do Sul increases its productive capacity to 1,200 units/month. It was conceived based on concepts of clean technology to minimize toxicity and volume of rejects, and has become a reference in the sector for its exclusive powder paint system – a process that gives more quality to the product and protects the environment.

2005

Guerra celebrates its 35th anniversary with a new manufacturing plant in Caxias do Sul (RS) and two industrial units, one in São Paulo and one in Argentina.

2006

The second unit of the CDLG – Guerra Logistic and Distribution Center is launched, and that is where delivery of products, parts, kits, and CKDs starts to take place. Launching Line 2007 includes Scala Series and contemplates products that were especially designed for the sugar cane sector, among them Tanque Fórmula G, whose B-train version has projected as the equipment with the largest load capacity of its category in the market.

2007

Guerra concentrates its product engineering department’s attention on Centro Tecnológico Guerra (technological Center), which was created with the purpose of researching and developing solutions for the transport of cargo through new products, systems and components.

In October the company displays at Fenatran its model of the first Brazilian tank designed for the transport of biodiesel.

The technological trajectory followed by Guerra SA Implementos Rodoviários, since its foundation in 1970, has been registered in images at the Guerra Memorial.

In October Guerra’s Emporium brand is launched, and exclusive clothes, accessories and presents are available to be commercialized.

2008

Stockholders at Guerra SA Implementos Rodoviários on June 10 achieve the sale of 100% of their stock capital to Axxon Group. Seeking for investors was a strategic option for the perpetuation of the company into the globalized market.

2009

Guerra launches Generation 2010, startling the market with exclusive and patented models and technologies, such as the 4-axle Gran G, the first Brazilian semi-trailer with GVWR of up to 57 tons. Innovations include anticipating use of accessories and launching new design in the sector of road implements.
